Hurricane Season is June 1 to November 30

But disasters are not limited to hurricanes or a specific time of year. They can occur anytime, anywhere. Emergency services may not be immediately available if they are also impacted.
What will YOU do until help arrives?

Everyone should have an emergency plan and be prepared to take care of themselves for at least the first 72 hours after a disaster. Remember, no two disasters are the same, the most effective way to protect you and your family is to be prepared.

  4. Get involved in preparing your community.

In a major disaster, it might be several days before vital services are restored.

Charleston County is exposed to a wide variety of hazards, both natural and man-made. Earthquakes, severe storms, power outages, and acts of terrorism are just some of the potential emergencies we may encounter. Imagine that you have no electricity, no gas, no water and no telephone service. Imagine that all the businesses are closed and you are without any kind of emergency services.
